I sincerely apologize for not updating the site since school has started. We have been so busy learning and discovering that I haven't had time to share it with you. I am hoping to get caught up on some of the big ideas and learning that we have made so that it helps put everything in context.
I would like to say a huge THANK YOU you everyone who attended Parent-Teacher interviews these last few days. It was my pleasure to host you and have an opportunity to talk about the progress of each student. I hope that you left with a picture of what is happening in the classroom and how we can continue to work together so that your child can continue to grow and develop. If you still have any questions, or need further clarification on anything that we talked about (or didn't get to talk about), please do note hesitate to contact me. I wish you a wonderful long weekend of discovery and discussion.

It was so nice to meet a number of families last Thursday night for Meet the Teacher Night. While the event was of an informal setting, it gave both you and I a chance to get to know each other a little bit. I sent home the handouts from the event last week to all families that were unable to make it to the school. Please read over them and let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Last week we started our first official look into the Science expectations of both the grade 1 & 2 curriculum. We are currently looking at seasonal changes, the importance of the sun and how the sun affects living things. We will be continuing to look at a variety of topics and questions that shoot off of the above ideas. We are continuing to practice the rules and expectations around entering and exiting the building (i.e. walking at all times), during eating times (i.e. staying seated, cleaning up after ourselves), how to transition from one activity to another (i.e. clean up when asked the first time). These expectations are reinforced with practice, consistent direction and redirection as well as praise when completed well. I will be attempting to post updates as regularly as possible. Please bear with me as I try to make this a new routine for our class this year. |
